My backyard
I was 17 when i started working in Glacier National Park. I had grown up in the mid-west and had no idea what i was getting into.
I had no college ambition so I just left, with a belly full of nerves and a brand new pack. Little did I know it was the best idea I have ever had.
I worked my first year at Swift Current Motor Inn and transferred between Many Glacier Lodge's Heidi's Snack Shop (being a manager) and the Swan Mountain Outfitters.
I started to realize that this valley was bliss. It was perfect. It had all my favorite things packed into one, like loving the mountains and hiking (they teach you patience).
Some of the most rewarding things you have to work very hard for. (like climbing a mountain instead of just looking at it).
I also found something I didn't expect to find: my Fiance We met working in this amazing state and are very excited to get married and spend our days wandering the Lewis overthrust.
If your worried at all about applying for a National Park Job, you shouldn't be. As any seasonal employee will tell you: it's an amazing part of life.
