Kelty Redwing 50 Backpack: Video Reviews & Testimonials

The Kelty Redwing 50 is a larger day pack that rides incredibly well, even with lots of weight. The placement of the hip belt allows for great airflow across your back to keep both you and your Camelbak cool as you hike.

Below are video reviews of people who actually own and use the Kelty Redwing 50 all the time! So watch these video testimonials before you buy to get an honest viewpoint of what the gear is like.

Name:  Brad Sageman

Pros:  Great airflow, carries weight well, lots of room

Cons:  None

Owned For:  Three or four years

Recommends:  Yes

My name is Brad Sageman. I’m from Evanston, Illinois. I’m a geology professor at Northwestern University, and I spend a fair amount of time every year out in the field, so I use a good amount of outdoor gear. Why don’t I start by talking about this.

This is an awesome pack for a day pack. You can see that it’s kind of bigger than some smaller day packs, which I liked because I’m often carrying rock samples back from a site.

The thing I liked best is the set up of how it sits on the hip belt and attaches. It keeps air flow through the back, it cools the Camelbak really nicely and it rides incredibly well when it has weight in it. So I’ve been really pleased with this pack.

The Kety Redwing 50 (3100)?

Yup.

And how long have you owned it for?

I think this is year three or year four.

And how many stars out of five would you give that one?

I’d give it a five for sure. It’s been perfect.

Anything you dislike about the pack?

I can’t think of anything. I really love it. The Kelty Redwing 50 has been the best day pack I’ve ever had.

Thank you so much!
