Montana Airports

For Glacier National Park, Montana

We all know it: Montana’s remote. As a result, flying into Montana airports can be expensive. However, this doesn’t mean Glacier National Park vacations are restricted for the rich and those within driving distance: planning your vacation in January allows you to attain cheap flights.

You have a few options to consider in terms of airports. However, your best bet is Glacier Park International Airport, located a handful of miles away in Kalispell, MT.

Think this is a dinky airport that no major carriers will fly to? Think again! Delta, Northwest and United all fly to Glacier Park International Airport.

What’s more is that you can travel to GPI (the airport code) from a plethora of American cities:

  • Seattle
  • San Francisco
  • Las Vegas
  • Salt Lake City
  • Denver
  • Minneapolis/St. Paul
  • Chicago
  • Atlanta

With free wi-fi service, no traffic jams, and no bus ride to/from rental cars, Glacier Park International Airport allows travelers to enjoy the luxuries of big city airports without the headaches.

Missoula Montana Airport

Missoula Montana (MSO) is the second best bet for flying into Glacier National Park. It’s most convenient for those traveling from the Rocky Mountain region and the Pacific Northwest.

As a college town, Missoula, Montana is also a great place to explore if you’re looking to extend your Montana vacation.

Billings Logan International Airport

Billings Airport is the largest of all airports within a close proximity to Glacier National Park. It’s airport code is BIL and provides visitors with numerous transportation options to get to the park.

However, it is a few hour drive and the gas price of a rental car might make this airport less attractive than Glacier Park International Airport or Missoula.

Interested in other Montana Airports?

There’s a handful you can fly into, but they have their drawbacks: they aren’t as close to Glacier or are Regional Airports that don’t offer as many services as the above three.

  • Helena (HLN) – Closer to Glacier than Billings, but doesn’t offer as many flights.
  • Gallatin Field Airport (BZN)- Located in Bozeman, Montana in the middle of the Gallatin Valley. Over 40 flights arrive daily from here.
  • Great Falls International Airport (GTF) – Southeast of Glacier National Park, this airport serves much of the western United States. Big Sky Airlines, Horizon Air, Delta Airlines, and Northwest Airlines serve Great Falls International Airport.
