Name:  Rachel Piontak

Pros:  Lace System, Great Traction

Cons:  Not Waterproof

Owned For:  About 1 Year

Hi, I am Rachel Piontak from Tulsa, Oklahoma and today I am going to talk about my Salomons.

What type of Salomon are they?

XA Pro 3D

Exactly! They are relatively new to me also. And so I am still trying to get used to the difference between all of the other types of Salomon shoes. Because so far, I like them all.

These Salomon’s are very dirty and I really should wash them, but it’s a testament to them, I suppose. Because I’ve worn them in a lot of muddy and dirty situations and they have been excellent throughout them all.

They have really excellent tread, which helped me climb up a volcano in Nicaragua and I think without them I would still be sliding down it. It was very muddy. But being able to just shove these shoes into the mud really helped. That’s also a big part of why they are very dirty.

They are also a replacement for my hiking boots a lots of times, even though I love my hiking boots. But for some reason I feel more agile in these shoes… I am not sure if that’s the correct terminology. But I can move easier in these because they are lighter weight. The tread and traction is actually better on this than on my hiking boots. And they are just very simple to move around in. They remind me of the sneakers I grew up in, except more durable.

I will put them on now. And I am actually not a person that loves Salomon’s my whole life. I only bought them four months ago because they were on a crazy good sale. And that’s the only reason I got them, but now I am extremely happy to have them.

Something that I really enjoy about them, other than the very easy, no need to tie your shoes mechanism, is that you can put your shoe lace up here and tuck it into this fabric cage. And then they don’t get caught on anything! Before I knew that you can put them in this clever little cage, they used to get caught in bushes and things.

So these are my Salomons.

Anything that you don’t like about them?

When I attempted to climb Long’s Peak last weekend, I decided I don’t like that they are not waterproof. Because they get very cold when you are walking through the snow for a long time! But that’s not really Salomon’s fault. That’s my fault.

How many stars out of 5 would you give them?

I would give them a 5. I think they deserve a lot of praise because they are very very solid shoes.

Awesome! Thank you so much.

Yeah, Thanks.

Pros:  Durable, Strap system, Comfortable

Cons:  None

Owned For:  5-7 years

Hey, I’m Bernadette Murray from Steamboat Springs.

And I’m Ron Murray from Steamboat Springs. Up here visiting our daughter who just graduated from CU.

We actually love our Salomon’s that we have on. These are the Pro… The XA Pro’s.. The 30 Ultra’s (editor’s note: they are the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra’s.

I’ve had these about 6, 7 years I’d imagine… maybe 5. And they’ve been absolutely beautiful. I use them everywhere from daily workouts to all the way up to hiking, like up the FlatIrons like we just did.

Yeah, mine, too. Mine are about seven years old… just starting to get a hole. But, I wear ’em all the time. I probably wear ’em at least 3-4 times a week hiking. Great, great product.

I love the strap system for the comfort level. You can micro-strap in so it’s not too tight and not too loose.

Can you show us that in action?

Just pull and tuck it under where you want it to be.

I have the waterproof Goretex ones, too. I usually use them when we do other hikes. I love them because they’re lightweight and waterproof and they’re awesome!

How many stars out of five would you give them?

I’d give them a five. Yeah, definitely four and a half, five.

Anything you don’t like about them?

Haven’t found out yet in my five to six years!
