Village Inn at Apgar Reviews by Actual Visitors

I was wondering about the Apgar Village Inn. Do you like it better than Lake McDonald Lodge? What is there to do there?

I have booked 5 nights at the Many Glacier for 2011 in August, and then three nights here. I think I may have made a mistake, since we are flying into Kalispell.

I am thinking I need to rebook for maybe one or two nights at McDonald Lodge before heading back to the airport.

How far is Lake McDonald Lodge from the airport in Kalispell? Thanks for your time. Brenda

Answer

Hi Brenda,

If I understand your question correctly, I don’t believe you made a mistake at all!

You’re flying into Kalispell and then spending 5 nights at Many Glacier Hotel, right?

It will add an extra 1.5 hours to your trip, but it’s worth it. That region’s beautiful.

Then, the second part of your question is Apgar Village Inn versus Lake McDonald Lodge, right?

Apgar Village Inn is cheaper and only 10 minutes from Lake McDonald Lodge. The activities are the same no matter which hotel you choose.

While Lake McDonald Lodge offers more of a rustic, cozy, hunter’s lodge feel, Apgar Village Inn is more of a motel. It’s nice and it serves its purpose, but you get what you pay for.

It’s not a bad experience by any means and is definitely a great way to experience Glacier National Park.

The bed at Apgar Village Inn

In July of 2009 at the end of a week in Glacier, we spent 2 nights at the Village in at Apgar.

All the rooms at Village Inn at Apgar have a view of Lake McDonald and it can not be beat on a nice day.

The room had more bed and plenty of room for two people. The room had a full bathroom, a dresser and a closet. It came with a coffee pot and some coffee also.

Since you do not spend a lot of time in the room this location worked out fine for the free van/bus transportation the park offers to Avalanche Lake.
