The summer I spent working in Glacier National Park's Many Glacier Hotel was the best summer of my life.
I came from a little state in the heart of Europe called Slovakia. For about 15 years the students from Universities in Slovakia go for a Work & Travel Program to USA.
There are different options how to get job in USA. One is a job fair, where people from different places in USA offer the jobs.
When I attended the job fair, there was one offer to work in Glacier National Park in Montana.
I have to say, that the decision to go there, in the middle of nowhere was difficult, but the accommodation and food, which was provided by Glacier Park Inc for a few dollars helped me make my decision (the beautiful Glacier National Park photos helped, too!)
I applied for the job and I never regretted this decision.
My summer there was full of new experiences, fun, hiking, sledding in July and other adventures. I met a lot of interesting people from all over the world and I'm still in touch with a lot of them. I improved my English. I knew myself there ...
I had to fall in love in Glacier National Park, but the pity was that I had a boyfriend back home. The true is that I met some great boys there ;).
When I came back home I broke up with my boyfriend, because we were not made for each other. The summer there helped me to recognize it. Nowadays I'm with the man of my life, but I met him a few years after this great summer in Glacier National Park.
I was working in Many Glacier Hotel in the kitchen. I started as a dishwasher, which wasn't the best for me, but after weeks I worked as a pantry-girl. It was cool.
At the beginning of my summer in Many Glacier Hotel, I was working in morning shift.
After my shift I hung out with friends and I needed a nap. My nap usually ended, when my roommate came from work and we went out with friends again.
Charlie's was very often the party destination, especially Thursdays (if I remember).
When working the night shift, my days began around noon, then some reading of my favorite book on a balcony, work and hanging out with friends.
What's my favorite memory? There are so many that I could write a book about them.
But I loved to fight with guys in kitchen. We did a lot of bad thinks to each other, but just for fun.
