Make professional quality adventure films on a shoestring budget. Pretty awesome, right? Below are video reviews & testimonials from actual owners of the GoPro HD Hero 960 camera.

Name:  Ken Calintar

Pros:  Waterproof, Wide-angle lens, Durable, Versatile

Cons:  His version only records 960P

Owned For:  1.5 years

Recommends:  Yes

This is Ken Calintar, I’m from Jacksonville, FL, and visiting Boulder, CO and I have my GoPro HD Hero 960 with me and it’s an awesome camera. This is actually the 960. It records up to 960P.

It has several settings actually–it can record 720, which is what I have it at, because it has a wider angle of recording. It records 170 degrees. It’s also waterproof until around, I think, 180 feet…

It comes with a waterproof backing so you can use it underwater. It uses an SD card. You can charge it with a USB cable. It’s pretty handy. It’s very, very durable, too

They’ve had this camera up in space… up to 80,000 feet.

A lot of the extreme sport people use it for snowboarding, surfing… they even have surfing attachments on the board! They have chest attachments. They have it on the helmet. Everywhere. It’s pretty cool

Perry: What do you use it for?

I use it for just traveling, experiences… I go kayaking, mountain biking (with it). It has an attachment for your handlebars and seat posts… There aren’t too many mountain biking trails in Florida, but there are some and I go on those.

It’s wonderful. It records very high quality and have never had a problem with it. I highly recommend it.

Perry: How many stars out of five would you give it?

I’d give it probably 4.5 for this one. And the only reason I won’t give it five is because it doesn’t record 1080P. Now, the new Hero 2 does. And that one has been reviewed by other people and they love it. Absolutely.

Perry: So that’s the GoPro Hero 1?

No, this is the 960.

Perry: Great! Can we get a close-up of the camera real fast? So, that’s the SD card reader right there?

That’s a digital display of different things. It tells you the battery information, the setting you have it at. I have it at number 2, so it’s recording at 720P.

Oh, it can also take pictures! That’s another thing I forgot to say. It takes 5 megapixel pictures. The new camera does 11 megapixel pictures… It’s like double the power of this one…

But it’s very, very versatile. I think the prices start for this one, online, at $150, roughly. There’s more information at GoPro.com. But there’s several other outfitters that are selling this camera as well.

Perry: Great! Well, thank you so much for your time! We really appreciate it.

No problem!
